The first time you run Blue Light Maps, you'll need to grant 'precise' location permission when pr

You'll also be asked to provide permissions for notifications. This enables direction notifications to appear in your devices notification drawer while navigating. We may also send push notifications to notify you of significant new app features.

If you run Blue Light Maps in the background during navigation, we recommend ensuring that you have battery saving disabled on your device and specifically for the Blue Light Maps app.

Downloading Maps

You'll be taken to the map view of your area. This will trigger a download of the map for your area, and the in-app tutorial. For more details, see our article on map downloads.

Logging In

After you've been taken through the in-app tutorial/demo, you'll be asked to signup or enter your registered email address before being taken to a login screen.

The app is only available to registered subscribers. For more details, please contact us.

Tap the search icon at the bottom of your screen. You can search in free text at the top of the screen, or select one of our pre-defined categories to find Points of Interest. By default, your search query will be handled by Google, but this can be changed for our offline search in the application settings menu. We are also integrated with What3Words.

Tapping the map icon in the bottom right corner will show you the search results plotted on a map

Selecting either the text entry from the first search screen, or the blue dots from the map view, will show you the relevant result.

In order to navigate to the selected result, tap the 'Route To' icon. This will automatically plan a route from your current location.

This will bring you to the Plan Route screen, where you can select the appropriate routing mode for the type of vehicle and response you require. We recommend you read the article describing the routing modes.

To start navigation mode, simply tap the 'Start' button at the bottom right.

You can save your own points on the map for easy access, see Saving Bookmarks for more details.

You're now well on the road to Smarter Navigation. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
